BANNING OF RAGGING

Each college should be made compulsory to specify punishment of ragging in bold letters in the prospectus and it should also appear on the notice board of the college as well as hostel and depositing of copies of same should be mandatory with the UGC, University and local SDM. The involvement of parents by calling a Parent Teacher Meeting on this specific issue highlight the pros and cons of ragging, could also be helpful in controlling the ragging.

Frequent visits to the college hostels by the officer of the district administration can also be helpful in stopping the ragging. In fact, terror has to be created amongst the students at the start of the session otherwise incidents of ragging would continue and there will be more victims like Aman.

However, the practice of ragging can be converted into introductory function at the start of the session in the present of teaching and non-teaching staff so that the purpose of ragging is not to the extent of unwanted incidents.

By giving exemplary punishment in the instant case would definitely be an eye opener for the students as well as to the parents so that before sending their wards to the college, they should put them wiser the consequences.
